The City of Southaven Parks and Recreation Department seeks to create and maintain a parks system that exceeds the needs of a growing and diverse population. The City of Southaven Parks Departments strives to offer a wide variety of programs for all citizens alike including recreational sports, senior citizen activities, disabled baseball and to offer well maintained facilities that not only provide recreational use and enjoyment to its citizens but also instill a sense of pride and belonging in the community.
The City of Southaven Parks and Recreation Department manages a recreational parks system that has something to offer every citizen in Southaven. The Southaven Parks and Recreation Department management team is responsible for the development and implantation of recreational and leisure programs, budget management, planning, and providing support to the Mayor and Board of Alderman.
The Southaven Parks and Recreation Department offers the following programs and amenities:
Recreational sports programs that include baseball, softball, soccer, football and cheerleading with age groups ranging from three to 16.
Senior Services Program where seniors have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities that include aerobics, cards, dance classes, dinners, and field trips.
Disabled youth baseball program taking place at the Field of Dreams. Youths with a variety of disabilities are given the opportunity to play baseball on baseball field with a rubberized surface.
The Parks and Recreation Department also operates community events such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Fishing Rodeo, Independence Day Celebration, Veteran’s Luncheon, Breakfast with Santa, and the Christmas Parade.
An extensive array of facilities that attract marquee events and provide citizens opportunities to spend quality leisure time and host their private events.
Facilities include:
Southaven Tennis Center – available for receptions, banquets, and parties
Snowden House – available for receptions, banquets, and parties.
Bancorp South Sports Complex – indoor batting cages, putt-putt golf, birthday parties, and indoor soccer.
Snowden Grove Amphitheater – featuring a summer music concert series
Southaven Performing Arts Center – available for theatrical productions, talent shows, or beauty pageants.
Arena of Southaven – horse shows, rodeos, expos, and trade shows.
Snowden Grove Park – 17-field baseball only complex where recreational and competitive baseball is played. In addition, this is the sight of Springfest, the City of Southaven’s annual festival and barbeque competition.
Greenbrook Park – Eight (8) field softball only complex where recreational, competitive and collegiate championship softball is played.
Cherry Valley – Four (4) field football complex where recreational football is played and cheerleading is performed.
Southaven Soccer Complex – Eight (8) field soccer complex where recreational soccer is played.
Southaven Golf Center – 9 hole public golf course
Impressive collection of city parks that include Central Park where citizens can play disc golf, walk, picnic, and fish. Central Park is also where Southern Lights, the City of Southaven’s display of Christmas lights, is held.

Introduced shade systems for seating at Snowden Grove Park.
Installed Wi-Fi at Snowden Grove Park.
Networked all concession computers at all facilities.
Installed disc golf course at Central Park.
Installed lightning protection system at Greenbrook Park.
Installed lights for tennis courts at the Southaven Tennis Center.
Constructed skate park and roller hockey park.
Remodeled the Southaven Tennis Center to make it completely handicapped accessible.
Hosted the Gulf South Conference Softball Tournament Championship.
Home to the University of Memphis Lady Tiger Softball Team.
Hosted the NABF World Classic.
Hosted the USSSA 10-year old World Series.
Hosted the Dizzy Dean Baseball World Series.
Hosted the Dizzy Dean Softball World Series.
Hosted 16 competitive baseball tournaments.
Hosted 2 competitive softball tournaments.
Hosted Easter Egg Hunt with over 3,000 in attendance.
Hosted Independence Day celebration with over 7,000 in attendance.
Hosted youth Fishing Rodeo with over 200 participants.
Hosted Veteran’s Day Luncheon with over 150 guests.
Introduced public/private (Bancorp South) partnership to create the Bancorp South Sports Complex.
Began addition to the Bancorp South Sports Complex to include an indoor soccer arena, permanent batting cages, and a cheer gym.
Over 4,000 youth participated in recreational sports programs such as baseball, softball, outdoor soccer, indoor soccer, football, and cheerleading.
Hosted over 3,000 recreational youth sport games.
Renovated old church to create the Southaven Performing Arts building.
Hosted three (3) plays, one (1) concert, two (2) beauty pageants, and one (1) talent show at the Southaven Performing Arts Center (SPAC)
Created after school program, Southaven Youth Center.
Installed target greens at the Southaven Golf Center.
Began renovation of tee boxes at the Southaven Golf Center.
Constructed permanent dressing rooms at the Snowden Grove Amphitheatre.
Sent representatives to Seattle, WA for the National Recreation and Parks Association national convention.
